hi i'm not sure about some of the things in this recipe. its my first time cooking

when i cut the leek, do i just cut it lengthways and long and thin?
when i chop the potatos, do i what dice them? or mush it up?
and also, has anyone tried making this soup? if so, how was it?

I looked up the recipe. A leek is like an onion, so by trimming, they mean cut off the green top and the part were the roots come out. Slice in half, really could go either way, vertically or horizontally, since it will be sliced thin anyway. It's more of a matter of presentation than taste difference. The potatoes are just cut up, not as small as diced, but not great big chunks, either. Since potato is such a big part of this recipe, try cutting them in sizes about half the size of your thumb joint.
