If I use less sugar whilst making my own jam, will this affect it?!

Question:

If I use less sugar whilst making my own jam, will this affect it?

i like my jam to taste of the fruit that it's made with, and so do not like it to have so much added sugar in it. does the amount of sugar in jam greatly affect how it sets, etc. ?
i've never made jam before, so don't really know much about it....

Answers:

I've heard that it just means they won't keep as long. I watched a Jamie Oliver show once when he made strawberry jam with less sugar than normal(normal being 1-1 measurements), he said that the only difference is that it won't keep as long, which is fine if you'll use it.
