Do i have to clean chorizos with water before eating?!

Question:

Do i have to clean chorizos with water before eating?

There is something white upon its skin and I dont know what it is. I have bought many from Spain for my family in Thailand but we don't know how to have it. hahaha

Answers:

Chorizos, specially those made in Spain, are packed in lard or pork fat, which is white in color when cold.
You do not have to remove the lard or pork fat as it melts out when you cook the chorizo.

Chorizos are usually sliced into 1/4-inch-thick diagonally (no need to remove the casing), and then fried. This is served with potatoes, also fried in the fat that melts from the chorizos. This is the traditional way to serve it in Spain.

Some even add some fried eggs to complete the meal.
You can also eat the chorizos with rice and eggs.

Do not wash the chorizos after slicing, as this will wash off the spices that were used to flavor the chorizos (specially the smoked paprika commonly used in Spain).
The use of smoked paprika for Spanish chorizos make this sausage specially tasty, and differs in taste from Latin-origin chorizos.

Enjoy!
