Beans Beans?!

Question:

Beans Beans?

when you cook beans how much do the measurments increase by, it says the serving size is 1/4 cup dry, after its cooked how much does it become? why do people cook them in lard does this add lots of fat to the beans if you only add 1 spoon

Answers:

2-1/2 cups of dried beans makes 6 cups cooked, so 1/4 cup dry would make 6/10 a cup (just over half a cup) cooked.

Fat adds flavor to any recipe. One tablespoon of lard adds only a few grams of fat to the total dish.
