Why dont they sell pork rinds in ireland?!

Question:

Why dont they sell pork rinds in ireland?

they sell all other uk stuff but you cant get these...........

Answers:

Just googled it and found this from http://www.porkscratchingworld.com/notes...

"Apparently, pork scratchings come in for a VAT rate of 21% in Ireland. Tragic news for Irish pork scratching consumers!"

I think they are trying to say it is classed as animal food and as such is not exempt from VAT? Perhaps this makes them uneconomical to market and less attractive to consumers.
