How hot is 350 degree oil? What setting on an electric stove should I use for this?!

Question:

How hot is 350 degree oil? What setting on an electric stove should I use for this?

I'm frying something in a pan ... it says to cook it in 350 degree oil. I have no way of measuring its temperature. But my stove is electric and has a dial going from 1 - 10, 10 being the hottest. What setting should I put it on to make it this temperature?

Answers:

Every kitchen should have a thermometer! You should get a thermometer that measures things like oil, water, etc., and one that you stick into food that measures the internal temperature of your meats.

I would say medium-high would be about 350 degrees. If you find your food is cooking too fast, or getting too brown, turn it down a tad. Good luck!
