Can you make single cream in to double cream?

Sort of. Beat the single cream until it thickens, but you will not get the creamy flavour that is found in double cream, as the fat content is much lower. Alternatively add some creme fraiche to the single cream before whipping, as this will thicken and add a more creamy flavour.
I cannot understand why some fool has given me the thumbs down for this answer. It is a good legitimate answer, that I have, and many other chefs have, used for many a year. So why?
