Canning potato soup?!

Question:

Canning potato soup?

Is it possible to home can potato soup? I know how to make it, I just wondered if I could can ahead of time while I have fresh potatoes, onions and while celery is so cheap. Anybody ever canned this before? Any bad experiences or good experiences? Nothing better than potato soup on a snowy day and wouldn't it be great to not have to go to the store and buy all of the stuff to put in it, just open a jar already made up?! If you have an awesome recipe to can this please let me know and I sure will try it and think of whoever gave me the recipe every time I open a jar this winter.

Answers:

Sorry, you can only pressure can the potatoes along with some celery, onion, etc. as a base. Then, you can open the jars and add your cream, etc. then. No dairy, butter, etc. may be safely canned. I think the Ball Blue book has a potato soup base recipe. I know it is in one of my books.
