Is there such a thing as leaving chicken in water too long?
I just bought some chicken and left it in a bowl of water. I am going over to my friend's house later (like in 5 hours) to learn how to cook a yummy Korean dish :)
However, should I leave the chicken in water? Or should I drain out the chicken and put it aside in the refrigerator, or leave it on the counter, or something?
Well my main concern is that, if I leave it in the water too long, the meat will become bad???
Answers:
You should not put the chicken in water at all. Just rinse it and pat it dry. Always keep chicken either refrigerated until immediately before you are going to cook it or frozen solid.
Yes, if you leave the chicken in the water too long, the meat can become "bad" due to growth of bacteria.
