Why does fresh-ground sea salt or kosher salt taste saltier?!

Question:

Why does fresh-ground sea salt or kosher salt taste saltier?

Do I imagine it?

Answers:

For course sea salt and kosher salt, there is nothing added to make it pour easier and to keep it from clumping.

They are pure salt. That makes them saltier. I believe but can't prove that the fresh grinding helps (just as with pepper) as you have to loose some flavor to oxidation and hydration.
