How can I turn linguine green with spinach?!

Question:

How can I turn linguine green with spinach?

I saw an episode of Iron Chef (the original Japanese version and not IC America). The challenger takes linguine out of a pot, dumps it into a pan with dried scallop. Then he dunks spinach leaves into the pan and instantly the pasta starts turning green.

How the heck does he do that? The ingredients were only dried scallop, red chili, linguine, olive oil and water used to boil the pasta.

When I tried it, the pasta doesn't change color at all. How do I get the spinach to turn the pasta green?

Answers:

I'm guessing that he boils the spinach before he throws it in the pasta. You can try that. Hope I helped...
