Are mussels found on the beach ok to cook and eat?

i think it would be but is their a difference between those and ones you would buy in the store

mike im talking about not on the beach im talking about a little bit in the water and they are still alive

there is a risk, but cook them thouroughly as mussles tend to be filter feeders.
