How do you soften bread that is hard as a rock?!

Question:

How do you soften bread that is hard as a rock?

Answers:

Get a regular brown paper sack [like a lunch-sack] and place bread inside, scrunch up the top, then wet the outside of the sack under the faucet. Place in a hot oven for about 5 to 10 minutes...the steam generated by the wet sack should soften the bread. Check at 5 minutes - once the sack is dry, the bread inside should be soft enuf to eat [warm with butter!]. This was my gran's method with what used to be called 'day old bread' and always tasted super.
