What should I do to keep a cake from sticking to an 8" pan if I use that instead of a 9" springform pan?
I am going to bake the cake found here:

I'd like to make it a smaller, taller cake. Instead of using the 9" Springform pan, I was going to put it in two 8" pans. I want the cake to be small but tall. Also, having the two cakes will make it easier to put filling between the layers. Have you done anything similar?
Will putting shortening and flour on the pans keep it from sticking, or should I line the bottom with parchament paper? Help! I want this birthday cake to be perfect!
Answers:
You should spray the pan with pan spray (Pam or any other kind works well), line the bottom with parchment paper and spray the parchment as well. Also, if you want the cake to be tall, cut the cake in half horizontally which will give you more layers to put filling inbetween, making the cake taller.
