Question:

HELP QUICK... COOKING IT NOW LOL! How do you make bulk (1.75 gallons) of brown gravy from store mix?

Here's the issue--I am attempting this right now LOL I have a roaster oven--cranked to 450, added gravy mix. It says 3 cups per gallon right---there are 24 oz per carton of this mix, I add a whole container--I notice when it comes out if you measure, it is fluffy-er. Is the 24 oz 3 cups-like i thought, or should I have measured it? How can i fix if too much, add water? Thanks for any help.....

also... I will be putting beef patties in it. Will this make it thinner as well?

Answers:

Add no more than a third of a cup at a time to about a cup of COLD water and stir this into your pan juices or gravy in process. Add more (and more fluid)until you get the volume and thickness desired. Remember it will thicken as it cooks. Lots of water may be required to fix what you've done, some gravy base may have to be taken out and discarded or stored for future use. Freezing is an option.
