Question:

HELP! Need pound cake recipe from Silver Palate cookbook?

For years I made a recipe from one of the Silver Palate cookbooks for poundcake (I think it was called Bishops Cake) - it was by far my fave recipe. However I have moved and cannot find the cookbook - or the recipe online. Can anyone help?

Many thanks!

Answers:

Bishop's Cake
1/2 pound (2 sticks) sweet butter
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1 tbs fresh lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 eggs

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 10 inch bundt pan
2. Cream butter and sugar gradually; beat until fluffy
3. Sift flour and add to butter mixture. Stir just enouhg to blend.
4. Add lemon juice and vanilla; stir well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
5. Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan. Bake for 1 hr and 15 minutes, or unitl a cake tester inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. (After 30 minutes, cover cake closely with aluminum foil.)
6. When cake is done, cool in its pan on a rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely.

Serve 8-10 portion.

Good luck and happy baking
