Can I substitute olive oil or coconut oil for 'cooking oil' in cake batter?
Didnt realize that I was out of cooking oil...its late here and I have to bake a cake to drop of at church in the morning!
All I have is pure olive oil and coconut oil! Help!
(its a box of cake mix, if that matters....)

Coconut oil does not taste like coconut but might be the best option out of the two. If you can, use melted margerine or shortening. Butter would also work (and will taste a bit richer). Definitely don't use olive oil though. That will taste strange...it's not meant for dessert baking! Good luck with your cake.
