Hard boiled egg cracks in water?!

Question:

Hard boiled egg cracks in water?

If a hard boiled egg cracks in the water will it still be good? What if it is cracked going in?

Answers:

Hi, the eggs are still good. If they were cracked BEFORE you put them in, I would discard them, no sense in taking risks.

heres a tip:

place eggs in saucepan, add cold water to cover them by 1 inch. Add 1 tsp white vinegar, or 1 tb Kosher Salt. This will prevent the eggs from seeping out if the shell should happen to crack ( the acidity will help to coagulate the white which is a protein) Bring to a boil, remove from heat, cover and let stand for 10 mins. drain, fill pot with cold water, let sit for a minute, then peel and use. This will give you perfect hard boiled eggs without the green ring around the yolk. Good luck, email me if you get stuck.
