Baking cakes - taking the cake out of the pan?!

Question:

Baking cakes - taking the cake out of the pan?

I am baking a 9" cake tomorrow - when I take the pans out of the oven should I take the cake right out or let them cool in the pans first? And when I take them out how can I do this without breaking the cakes (2 layers) and get them right-side-up on the cooling rack?

But how do I actually lift the cake out of the pan?

Answers:

Wait for them to cool a bit (10 min) but not too long or it will stick. If you take them out too soon, they are fragile and may break or the cooling rack will leave lines. They don't have to be right side up if you wait the 10 min, usually the bottom layer is upside down so the flat sides are together and it looks better when you frost it.
