Do you wash or rinse your egg(s)(still in the shell) before cooking them?!

Question:

Do you wash or rinse your egg(s)(still in the shell) before cooking them?

I saw someone do a poached egg but before she cracked the egg, she washed the egg. I thought it was a bit strange but maybe I'm missing something here or is she? Thanks

Answers:

Never heard of it. It's like washing a banana before you peel it. What's the point? And you're not even going to be eating it raw, you're going to be cooking it, so what's the double point?

The only way I could possibly see it would make any sense is if the water was warm and the point wasn't to wash it but to bring it up to room temperature. Still, I don't know anyone who does that either, but that's all I can come up with.
