I am cooking a pot roast in a crock pot,do I need to add any water to the roast?


Answers:

Yes, you need to add some liquid........I prefer to use beef broth AND water (beef broth can get a bit salty if it cooks down too much) or another trick is to add a packet of dry onion soup mix (think: Lipton) a cup of water and 3 tablespoons of A1 or Worcestershire sauce, cover it and let it cook for 4-5 hours on High or 8-9 hours on Low......DO NOT OPEN THE CROCK POT DURING COOKING!!! (One of the biggest mistakes people make when using a crock pot!) Every time you lift the lid, add 30 minutes to the cooking time.....if you'd like veggies to go with your roast, I find they come out "mushy" in the crock pot.......I prefer to oven roast my veggies for a roast in the crock......Enjoy!!!
