Have you ever substituted tofu for hamburger in Sloppy Joes?!

Question:

Have you ever substituted tofu for hamburger in Sloppy Joes?

Answers:

I do all the time, I am a former chef and buy at a bulk food outlet a product known as TVP, textured Vegetable Protein, it looks like grapenuts cereal is the reminance of the tofu making process that are heat dried.

I saute it with some veg oil, the onions and peppers, put my seasoning in, add my sauce base or a tin of Hunts Manwich if in a hurry. It is low in fat and most people with the right seasoning and slow cooking will not know the difference, it is a great meatless alternative, I use it in chilis, spaghetti sauce for a veggie lasagna and in falafel with the chickpeas.
