What is the best way to light a barbeque?!

Question:

What is the best way to light a barbeque?

Paper? Lighter fluid? Lighting blocks? Lots of wood? Other suggestions?

Answers:

Problem is, who can be bothered doing it the best way, too much work.

However, a little newspaper or some kindling to start, with a pyramid of little twigs on top, get it started with a match. Then add bigger and bigger bits of wood letting each stage burn in. Then finally the biggerst ones. Then let them burn down to natural charcoal embers and start cooking. Takes over an hour to get ready to cook.

No horrible smell of lighter fluid in the food, no smell of those blocks in the food, and you can choose the type of wood to use for different flavour. Whereas with charcoal you get what you are given.

However, it's just so much easier to get some charcoal, flood it and light.

Oh well, I was a girl guide, shame so few people do the guide scout thing these days. I can chop my own wood no prob and if ever needed can tie some wicked knots, LOL
