Question on oatmeal?!

Question:

Question on oatmeal?

hi .. i was wondering does oatmeal speed up the metabolism?

and if so does flavored oatmeal(like strawberries and cream or the maple and brown sugar (etc,) kind? work as good as plain oatmeal

Answers:

Yes, oatmeal is a good thing to eat to boost your metabolism. It breaks down very slowly in the stomach, which is good, because this causes less of a spike in insulin. Production of insulin triggers storage of fat, which in order to take place, sends signals to the body to slow down your metabolism.

If your goal is to lose weight, keep in mind those flavored oatmeals have a lot more calories than plain oatmeal. One ounce of plain oatmeal contains 110 calories. One ounce of Quaker maple and brown sugar oatmeal contains 157 calories.
