i hate wasting food, how do i preserve garlic and onions he buys too much of, i peel skins on garlic and onions, how do i make them survive longer?

Keep a large jar of peeled garlic. Line the jar with paper towel to soak up some moisture, but change it every week to prevent molding. If you can find a place for your onions, a cool, dry, dark place is preferrable, close to open air. The onions will keep for about a week or so. If it looks like it's getting to be out too long, then peel it, wrap it in paper towel and store it in paper bag in a crisper drawer. That should add a few days to a week to its life span. Try that out and see how it works.
