Basic buttermint recipes anyone????
I NEED AN EXTREMELY BASIC BUTTERMINT RECIPE FOR MY SISTERS WEDDING.
Answers:
Butter mint recipe. You can dye these virtually any color to match her colors.
1/2 c. butter
1/4 cup whipping cream
2 lbs (.9 kg). bag of confectioners' sugar
1/4 tsp butter flavoring
1/4 tsp peppermint oil (or 1 tsp extract) - oil is nicer
Leave butter at room temperature until soft. Heat cream until warm. Mix all ingredients by hand. Knead until smooth.
Add color as desired and continue to mix by kneading.
Press into mint molds to form. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from forms. Place on waxed paper. Let set for 4-5 hours to dry. Turn and let other side dry. Store in covered container. These keep a long time and freeze well.
Rather than put in the mold you can roll it into long strings and then cut into small pieces, like the kind you buy at the store.
This is one of my favorite recipes for reception mints, not exactly butter mints but this one is awesome and super easy!!
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
3 c. powdered sugar
2 drops of peppermint oil (oil is better than extract)
Food coloring
Mix cream cheese, flavoring, coloring slowly add powdered sugar and knead in with fingers. Roll into small balls then into (granulated) sugar. Press into mold and pop out. Refrigerate. These freeze nicely. 50 to 75 mints.
We also like to use colored sugar for this one. When you press it in the mold the cream cheese spreads out and shows through the colored sugar.
Hope these recipes help...Congrats on the wedding and good luck!!!
