To make caramels. Could golden syrup or maple syrup be used in place of corn syrup?!

Question:

To make caramels. Could golden syrup or maple syrup be used in place of corn syrup?

The reason why i ask, is because i am not able to find corn syrup. i live in the UK and i am either missing it or no one stocks it.

Answers:

No one stocks it trust me. I live in the UK, and I have been told by www.nigella.com that I can substitute golden syrup for the corn syrup, however I would adjust the sugar slightly, because golden syrup is a lot sweeter than corn syrup. I made caramel corn using golden syrup last week and it turned out fine. So let me know how your caramels turn out.
