Meatball sauce in crockpot....?!
Meatball sauce in crockpot....?
OK, we are having an Open House tomorrow and some important people will be attending. We will have little 'bites' throughout the office for people to munch on and one will be meatballs (in crock pot to keep warm). I need some FABULOUS sauce recipes that will make a great impression!! I don't want dipping sauces - I need the sauces that the meatballs can simmer in. Preferably something sweet/sour or spicy. We were thinking of Curry or ???? NOT plain BBQ Sauce.

I make these for parties, housewarming or any other occasion.
********Marmalade Meat Balls
Ingredients
2 pounds fully cooked frozen meatballs
1 bottle (16-ounce) Catalina salad dressing
1 cup orange marmalade
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
Place frozen meatballs in the insert of a slow cooker. In a bowl, stir
to combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over meatballs and stir to coat. Cook on high setting for
2 to 3 hours.
********MEATBALLS IN BEER SAUCE
3 lbs. ground beef
4 eggs
2 c. seasoned bread crumbs
1 1/3 c. milk
Mix well and shape into small meatballs (mixture will be loose). Place on cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. Drain on paper towels. (If preparing ahead, meatballs may be frozen, but should be fully thawed before proceeding with next step.)
Or
2 pounds fully cooked frozen meatballs
SAUCE:
3 bottles chili sauce
1 c. brown sugar
2 cans favorite beer
Mix well in crock pot or large saucepan. Add meatballs and simmer on low setting for a minimum of one hour. The longer the meatballs simmer, the thicker the sauce and the tastier the meatballs. Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
