Question:

What should I cook for an amateur food competition?

There are categories for any type of food. What are some good ideas-something that serves well when broken down into samples. For the purposes of this question, assume I am a versatile cook. I have a few specialties but I'm trying to keep an open mind during the brainstorm process, so I won't list them.

ORANGE PUDDING

3 seedless oranges
boiling water to cover
2 rolls -sliced thin
4 TAB# ground almonds
2 TAB# sherrded citron
6 eggs -seperated
4 TAB# sugar
2 c milk
1/2 pound sweet butter
whipped cream
cook whole oranges in water till soft- then remove and grind-
dip you do not have a grinder use food processor-dip slices of rolls in milk -cream butter and egg yolks ; add add sugar-ground almonds and shreeded citron ;add beaten egg whites -turn into buttered baking dish set over pan of hot water and steam 15 minutes serve hot or cold with whip cream
