Making rock candy, where to buy the sticks with the balls on the ends?!

Question:

Making rock candy, where to buy the sticks with the balls on the ends?

My sister is learning about crystals in school so this weekend I am going to make rock candy with her so she can see how the surgar crystals form.

We want to use the sticks that are used for the ones you buy in a store. We cant find them. We have already looked in our local candy stores and craft stores. Where can we get them?

They look like this http://image.funexpress.com/feimg/k800.j...

I want to buy JUST the sticks

Answers:

So far, the closest thing I can find is a kit to make rock candy which includes five sticks and everything else you need to make it

But I will keep looking

Edit: It is really annoying: I have seen them for sale at craft stores for different purposes and I just can't remember. They are the same sticks used in these aren't they

Don't worry, I'll answer by tomorrow.

You might also try going to your local hair accessory shop and buying a simple wooden hair pin.

Try looking for a dowel and dowel ball which might be sold together or separately in which case the dowel in just a stick and the ball is a spherical kend of bead with a hole only at one end.

Edit: If you really can't find any suitable sticks can I suggest an alternative? You could use a cotton or fibre string and then make it into a necklace/bracelet (either completely covered in rock crystal or only partly).
