What is the best way to pan sear sashimi tuna??!

Question:

What is the best way to pan sear sashimi tuna??

I have 2 fillets which are equal and together weigh one pound. I have marinated them for several hours but have never cooked in a pan. How long should I cook them on each side?? Any other recommendations or opinions would be great. Thanks!

Answers:

Depends how well done you like your tuna. If it was me, I would like to just cook a half cm all round and leave the inside raw. Then cut with a very sharp knife into 1cm slices. Tuna tastes so good like this and I would thoughly recommend giving it a go! Tuna overcooks really easily so whatever you decide to do, make the pan hot and cook it very quick. Also, remember that it will continue to cook after you have taken out of the pan and little extra time can be enough to over do it. Very very hot pan, 20 seconds on all sides would leave it seared on the outside and raw in the middle.
