Mean pie & cornish pasties?!

Question:

Mean pie & cornish pasties?

just a quick qustion it says on my recipe that to put the filling in the pastry but don't i have to cook it first ? (the filling would be mushrooms, steak (only have little of it) potatoes and onions
will it cook okay be its self of shall i give the filling a bit of a fry first and par boil the pototoes ?

many thanks

Answers:

I would definitely cook the filling first, and use minced steak or minced beef, or minced pork. Pastry cooks fast, and needs regular checking. Not too high temperature, otherwise it will burn before it is cooked through, resulting in a stogy middle or base.
Get another recipe book, there are such great ones that describe in detail
