Answers:

I have been waiting to share an old family recipe with someone who really wanted it, so here you are. It's Grandma Flint's Christmas Pudding.
My Gran passed away in Dec' 1985.
Ingredients:
1pound each of
currants,
sultanas,
raisins,
demarara sugar,
peeled &grated carrots.
2ounces of ground almonds
Half teaspoon of ground nutmeg,
4 ounces of fresh white breadcrumbs
Half pound of shredded suet (Atora beef or vegetarian)
pinch of salt
6 ounces Plain Flour
Juice from 2 oranges
Juice from 2 lemons
4 eggs
3 Tablespoons of Brandy
Mix all the ingredients together - if it is too stiff, add a little milk, taking care not to add too much. The mixture should be quite stiff,
It will take 3 days of stirring, allowing any family members to have a stir and make a wish.
After 3 days, put into pudding basins, cover with lightly oiled greaseproof paper and/or tinfoil, making a crease in the centre of paper to allow the pud to rise. Do not fill the basin more than two thirds full.
Steam over a pan of water for minimum 4 hours, making sure that the water does not boil dry. Remove from the heat, allow to cool and store until the big day, in a cool place. Re-heat by steaming for 2 hours.
This recipe will make 5 puddings of 1 pound each, to give as gifts or enjoy yourself. To make less puds, reduce the ingredients by equal proportions.
It is not easy to make these puddings but your reward will be on Christmas Day, when everyone asks where you got the recipe. Please treat this recipe with the respect it deserves.....it has been passed down through my family for 7 generations.
