The perfect layered cake?!
The perfect layered cake?
i have tried it before, but it always seems to soak down, or just fall apart. What are the real steps to layering a cake? Also, what kind of icing do you use to cover it?
Answers:
The perfect way to layer a cake is to place the first layer of the 3, top down onto a plate so the flat side is up. Then take the second layer and cut the rounded top (if there is a rounded top) straight across and save the top piece to use another time. Place the flat bottom of that layer down on the first layer on the plate (after placing whatever kind of filling you want between the two). Place your filling on the top side of that one and place the last layer on it with it's rounded layer up. You can frost or ice it with whatever you'd like from a Cool Whip/pudding frosting to just some powdered sugar/milk icing. You can even cover it with caramel icing.
I'm not sure what you were saying about something soaking down. If your icing or frosting is soaking down, then your cake may still be warm when you frost it? If so, make sure it has cooled to room temperature and make sure your frosting is cool.
