Cooking Orzo...is it the same as rice ?!

Question:

Cooking Orzo...is it the same as rice ?

In other words, can you use it in a rice recipe and get the same results, or do you need to adjust ?
Thanks !

Answers:

Not really. Orzo is closer to pasta than rice. You cook it in boiling water but you don't let it sit like you do with rice. Make sure to read the label and prepare according to directions.

As for replacing it in a recipe, it depends on the recipe! Probably not right if you're making a paella, for example, but if you're using it as a side dish, then replacing orzo could work.
