Why can't i make an omelette properly?

It ends up burnt on the bottom and still all runny on the top. I add cheese to it about 30 seconds after i pour the egg into the pan. Please help!!! Thanks x

Answers:

Your pan is probably too hot.

Spray an 8 or 10 in non-stick skillet with non-stick coating.
Heat on medium low to medium heat.
Break 2 large eggs into a bowl and add 1 tablespoon of water.
Add salt and pepper and the like. Beat until mixed well.
Pour mixture into pan. You only want to cover the bottom of the pan, so don't add to much. Too much will make it hard to flip.

The egg should become thicken without burning. You can hurry the process by dragging a spatula through the egg. Once it is mostly solid you can flip it, but you don't have to.

With practice, you can slip the omelet half out of the pan and onto a plate, add ham, cheese, etc then flip the other half over.
