What else should i make for dinner, with a pot roast?!

Question:

What else should i make for dinner, with a pot roast?

Hey, I'm making a rump roast in the crock pot today and I want suggestions on what to serve with it, aside from the typical mashed potatos, gravy, and corn. any ideas?

Answers: I'd suggest potatoes, but instead of mashed, why not go with roasted? Grab some baby red potatoes, carrots, onion quarters, and other root veggies, toss with olive oil, fresh rosemary, butter, salt and pepper, and roast uncovered for about 30 minutes... then throw some minced garlic in there, stir it around, and continue to cook until done... trust me, serve this on the side with some of the pan juices on top, SO YUMMY!! butternut squash
biscuits
cranberries I'm making one myself tonight! I usually add carrots. And make biscuits or rolls I bought some Rabbi the other day and cooked it recently. It was so good, I followed the recipe on the twistie, was a very good leafy green.

Have some sort of cold salad such as pea salad or bean salad. Make some baked Macaroni and cheese or fried okra. Carrots cooked with the roast in a slow cooker, and potatoes that you can mash and make gravy from the beef juices . Rump roast tastes nice in a vegetable beef stew. It also makes good barbecue sandwiches on texas toast with homemade fries and baked beans. If my mom makes a roast in the crockpot, she adds onions, potatoes, and carrots with it, the juices all run together for a great flavor. She sometimes adds wostershire sauce too. YUMMY! You should serve it with a starch and a vegetable.

Starch ideas:
small red potatoes, roasted with sea salt and rosemary
bowtie pasta with a cream sauce
twice-baked potatoes
rice pilaf
macaroni and cheese

Vegetable ideas:
Fresh green beans
asparagus
broccoli
garden salad

And don't forget a nice glass (or three) of red wine!

Bon apetit! Instead of adding potatoes and carrots to the pot.
Roast the new potatoes with olive, rosemary, salt and pepper in the oven....you just wash and cut the potatoes in quarters, drizzle with olive oil, then season and bake in a moderate oven, turning about halfway through cooking time
.
Serve with a Carrot/Raisin Salad
2 cups shredded carrots
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon grated onion, optional
mayonnaise or French dressing
lettuce
Combine carrots and raisins in a bowl. Add grated onion and moisten with mayonnaise or French dressing. Serve on lettuce.

But you gotta have gravy....you could jazz it up a little by adding a dash of sherry or 1/4 cup of red wine. It will give it a well rounded, yet elegant flavor.

If you don't like those ideas....do rice pilaf with mushrooms and herbs, roasted asparagus or sauteed spinach. peas rolls Yum, did you make enough for my family too? lol!!
