What can you possibly make with canned potatoes? My husband bought two cans, why? I don't know, and I have no idea what to do with them. Does anyone have a receipe ?
Answers: Drain canned whole potatoes and roll them around on layers of paper towels to make them dry on the surface. Roll them in melted butter and season them with a sprinkling of paprika. Bake them, uncovered, in a 400 degree oven until they develop a nice crust on the surface, about 30 minutes. shake the pan a few times as they cook.
The little potatoes can benefit from a variety of seasonings when being oven browned. Try dry steak seasoning, barbecue seasoning, garlic powder, or your favorite seasoning blend.
After draining and drying the canned potatoes cut the large ones in quarters and the small ones in half. Deep fry them until a nice crust forms on the surface. Season them right after draining them on paper towels. They have a great dual texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and good potato flavor. Home fries They are great shortcut for hashbrowns in breakfast burritos.
If you have kids, I used to live off those things too. You can use them in stews, roast them in the oven with garlic and onion. They make a good sub for when you dont have fresh potatoes handy. hashbrowns shred or cut up put in hot fry psn with buter and onion
german potatoe salad- i add some hot bacon crumbles and onions that have some vinegar and a small amount of bacon grease added.heat this mixtute add some sugar to cut tartness. pour over and toss with ssliced potatoes You Can also just dump them right into a pot with the juice from the can and bring them to a light boil and just add some dill weed to them.... this is more or less a polish dish. Throw them out! Think about all the perservatives that are absorbed into those potatoes. Fresh is best. You can slice them and pan fry them in some butter and olive oil, salt and pepper and rosemary, whatever seasonings you like.
You can cube them and use them in homemade split pea soup.
You can eat them straight out of the can...mmmm. I'd have suggested using the cans as door-stoppers because they seemed really tasteless to me when I tried to use them in a Beef Salad. But the other recipes are worth a try. I'm still wondering what to do with the 5 cans of creamed corn my husband bought!! Quick and easy potato salad. Rinse and drain potatoes first though. You can use them in any potato salad recipe. They come in handy when you are in a hurry.I just empty out the juice, put in a low bowl that fits in the microwave, sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika. dab with butter . I put it in the microwave for about 10 minutes. Some times I add small pieces of onion before cooking.
