I went to the store by, and by accident I got this cheese called Farmer Cheese.?!

Question:

I went to the store by, and by accident I got this cheese called Farmer Cheese.?

I thought maybe it was farmers american cheese, but it is a block of kinda a hard cottage cheese. It spreads kinda crumply. My aunt said people cook with it, or put it on crackers. I read it is good with roasted peppers. Anyway, I got a whole pound of it. How long will it last, and what can I make with it?

Answers: If it melts well add dried cranberries/and walnuts bake and spread it on crackers like a brie..

You can make it into macaroni/cheese.. Just melt cheddar cheese, farmers cheese with some butter add ricotta cheese. .Melt add a bit of milk... cook some pasta and add to melted cheese mixture... I like to add italian seasoning and garlic powder or salt.... Top with potato chips and bake 350 for 30 min... or until golden brown on top... pizza and its good until its moldy Farmer cheese is a simple cheese often used for fillings in blintzes and other foods. Farmer cheese is made by pressing most of the moisture from cottage cheese; pressed drier still, it is sometimes rolled in a mixture of herbs and flavorings, or wrapped in very thin slices of flavorful smoked meats. It should be consumed fresh, as it goes stale if kept too long, and becomes brittle and useless with refrigeration. My grand mother makes perogies with it,hand made with a rolling pin and the whole 9 yards they're freakin awsome. What you accidently bought was goat cheese. Eat it like any other cheese, personally I like it on crackers.
