I am cooking my husband steaks tonight and was wondering if anyone had any good recipes?
also if anyone has any great side dish ideas that would be great
Answers: I buy sirloin steak, thin or thick cut. I use steak rub and grill the steak to medium well done (a little pink and still very juicy and tender)
I have made several different side dishes with my steak.
macaroni noodles with cream of mushroom soup
baked potato (add butter, gravy or sour cream)
mashed potato (add butter, gravy or sour cream)
brown and wild rice
stuffing
Suddenly Salad (many varieties)
salad with fresh veggies
steak fries
cinnamon apples
corn on the cob Cook it medium rare, and saute some sliced onions, button mushrooms, and a little bit of garlic in olive oil. On the side, give him a baked potato, with butter or sour cream, maybe some chives, bacon bits, or shredded cheese, too. Top it off with a cold beer in a frosted mug. Serve it to him in your skimpiest bikini, and don't be surprised if the food gets cold on the table. stab the beef and insert whole garlic cloves before cooking. Marinade it wishbone robusto italian salad dressing, best steaks ever. Just cooked mine some lastnight.
Take your steaks and season them well. I prefer seasoning salt, beef boullion, tomatoe boullion, some herbs. Rub the seasoning in well.
Place in a frying pan. Preferably virgin oil with hebs but if no, butter will do. After the skillet is hot place the steaks inside. continue to flip them and make an incision in the center, so that they will cook inside a little.
If you have thick steaks, place a top on them. If not, continue to flip.
Green peppers, onions and tomatoes should be sliced and washed ready to place in skillet 15-20 minutes after tuning.
Place a small amount of seasoning on veggies while stirring. If steak is done take it out and continue to let veggies cook in steak grease. Do not let cook to long, for they will be soggy instead of crispy.
Serve with / slice some potatoes, leave skin on and boil them up high until done. Pour water off and add butter and garlc power and seasoning salt. Melt butter and throw in some sliced shallots and garlic. Add mushrooms and saute. When shallots and garlic are tender (not burnt), add a splash of red wine. When the sauce has reduced, throw in the steak (make sure they have been sitting out in room temperature for the maximum flavor) and cook 3 or 4 minutes on each side. Place cooked steak on plates and let it rest for a minute or two. Top each steak with the shallot, garlic, and mushroom topping.
Mash potatoe with horseradish, aspargus (sauteed in butter), grilled veggies, roasted potatoes... these would all be great for side dishes. I am a purest when it comes to steak. Dust them with garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper. and broil. tender=rare, chewy =medium ,tough = well done. your choice! For a side dish pickled potatos / i can sliced new potatos,1/2-3/4 cups Kraft zesty Italion dressing,1/2 cup of finly sliced onion, fresh ground pepper to taste. allow to sit in refrig. for at least 30 min.

p.s small chuck steaks are a good choice here Marinate steaks in liberal amount of Liquid Smoke for at least an hour before cooking.
Salt/pepper and grill or broil until done as desired, brushing with your favorite barbeque sauce a couple of times.
Serve with grilled portobello mushrooms seasoned with herbs and butter......
Nice thick homemade french fries should top it off nicely.....
Dessert: cheesecake and coffee :)
