i like balsamic vinegar also. depends on the vinagrette you want to make...
champagne vinegar
cider vinegar
balsamic vinegar
red wine vinegar
raspberry vinegar

All good to use in making a vinagrette. White distilled doesn't make a good dressing. It's good for adding to mayo in potato salad dressing but not much else.

Red wine vinegar is the other alternative to balsamic. It's lighter, less strong. It can come flavored with garlic sometimes. white distilled is fine. Balsamic is really good. I prefer the white balsamic. Apple Cider Vinegar is good, especially aged organic. Gives the salad a slightly fruity tone. try apple cider vinegar
or
balsamic. Apparently white vinegar is the least healthiest so its better for you if you use apple vinegar, or balsamic.
Another dressing that is really delicious is fresh lime juice, olive oil and salt, try it.
MMmmm.... Good season italian dry dressing mix. The mix works well with any kind of vinegar. I've used cider, white, balsamic, red wine vinegar, all taste wonderful! Experiment.....

Good Luck! I use rice wine vinegar, tasty, or limes and evo, season.
