Question:

How can i make spagetti with meat sauce that doesn't look like dog food?

Answers: Make your sauce, or open the jar and cook the spaghetti without over cooking. KEEP THEM SEPARATE. Sauce in one dish, spaghetti in another. Mix it on your plate. Any leftovers, just put a little sauce on the pasta to keep it from sticking. Source(s):
Experience, mom of 5 if you use hamburger, when you fry the meat, don't chop it up too much. it's when the meat breaks down that it looks like dog food. try sweet Italian sausage, or meatballs here it is..

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce
SUBMITTED BY: Arlene Sommers

"'My family always enjoyed my homemade spaghetti sauce, but it's so time-consuming to make on the stovetop,' remarks Arlene Sommers of Redmond, Washington. 'My busy grown daughter adapted my recipe to take advantage of her slow cooker. The flavorful sauce still receives compliments.'"

Viola! YUM YUM! Hi there! My trick for not making it look like "dog food" is to use olive oil and a drop of ricotta cheese. It helps the meat stay together in larger clumps so that it isn't as MINCED as dog-food looks. Also, keep the meat in larger chunks while it simmers. It will break down in people's plates naturally anyway, but at least when you serve it, it will look a little but hartier. Here is my personal recipe - I hope you enjoy it! Let me know if you have any other questions. Always happy to help.

Linguine with Meat Sauce
Prep: 15 min, Cook: 25 min.

1/2 lb. linguine or other pasta
2 tsp. virgin olive oil
4 tbsp. ricotta cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
3/4 lb. ground round
4 tomatoes, puréed
1-1/2 tsp. Italian herb seasoning
2 Tbs. parsley, chopped
1 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Cook pasta in boiling water until al dente. Drain thoroughly. Transfer pasta to a serving bowl and keep warm. Heat oil in a heavy nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Sauté garlic and onion 2-3 minutes or until onion is softened. Stir in ground meat and sauté 7-8 minutes or until meat is browned. Stir in remaining ingredients, except cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste. Simmer vigorously 10 minutes or until thickened. Pour sauce over pasta and toss. Serve with Parmesan. 1pasta

4cheese make braciole - that way you get the meat but it's in a different form in the sauce. delicious, too. you can probably find a good recipe online . . . it's just beef or pork pounded thinly and rolled around the fillings of your choice, tied and simmered in sauce. or just make meatballs.
