Question:

What was the last experiment you made in the kitchen that went horribly wrong?

Answers: Seafood lasagna...

Wasn't pretty my kids!! Duck al a Watermellon seemed like a good Idea at the time Yesterday, I tried making cookies from scratch with no recipe - it was absolutely disgusting... heh I tried making curry lima beans...ew.
Oh..and Chilli spaghetti, yuckie.
I tried making a smoothie using fresh bananas, strawberry preserve, and milk...i got real sick from that one. i TRIED to make a victorian sponge for my mum, one sunk and looked more like a pancake at the end, and the other was rock hard at the edges and as dry as a desert in the center, needless to say i binned the lot, and bought a fresh one from our local bakery, and lied! i told her it was homemade!! lol My husband was flaming pheasant breasts in brandy and forgot to switch off the extractor fan. The flames were sucked up and it burnt the whole unit out, filled the kitchen with smoke soot and burnt plastic etc. It still hasn't been replaced months later and is a talking point for all who visit. for a long time i haven't made much mistakes, but when i started making cakes like 6 years ago, i made my first cake without adding any baking powder-i forgot to out as i was so worried whether i would get it right. As it turned out my cake was rock hard and utterly horrible!!
But i tried next time and got it right. Now i am an expert at making cakes!! the first time my sister made a cheesecake, she did the no-bake jello cheesecake, and for the ingredients for the crust, it said add two tsp of sugar, she added 2 CUPS of sugar.....needless to say, the crust was....um.....GROSS lol I made beef stroganoff and discovered that the mushrooms I had bought were moldy. I just rinsed off the mold and made the dish with them anyway. The Stroganoff was quite good, but it had an aftertaste like tetracycline. I guess I had cooked an antibiotic stew. The lesson I learned is not to buy mushrooms in a container sealed with plastic. Buy them loose from the bulk bin. And don't cook with moldy produce, even if you rinse off the mold.
