Experation date question?!

Question:

Experation date question?

I bought Italian sweet sausage and it's been in the fridge since i got it open, one link left, the experation date is sell by sep 18th.Do you think it's still good,it doesn't smell dead or anything but hmm i don't know.Thanks.

Answers: I would ditch it. It probably wont kill you....but I wouldnt want to be sick either. id eat it. if it doesnt smell bad or have any discoloration then sure, go for it. but i wouldnt wait more than a few more days to eat it. then it may start to turn. so long as the expiration date says sell by and not use by then your good. enjoy!! Don't eat it!! Better to be safe then sorry. Don't eat it!! throw it away!! Do it!! Right now!! ? It's sausage....lots of preservatives. If it doesn't smell, look or feel "Off" I bet it's just fine. I eat food past the ex period all the time and most of the dates are sell by dates..I buy clearence meat all the time for me no biggie..If it smells bad ditch it.. If you opened it and broke the factory seal, get rid of it.

The Rat Just cook thoroughly. Nine days past the sell-by date isn't much for sausage kept in the fridge. It is safe. There's a difference between sell by and use by dates. Just make sure it is cooked properly. I would eat it, you lookin at 9 days past the date, i drink milk two weeks past the experation, and like one of the answers said, lots of preservatives to keep it longer. the date on the package is a sell by date anyways. i worked at a local market and we just couldnt have it out there on the shelf by that date. In italy, they made sausage and just layed it out on the counter or put it in a box. plus if it doesn't smell dead to you you should make sure it isnt moving because if it is alive then that means it has worms lol it doesnt smell dead? so it smells alive.??? well thats just no good at all then ... take it to the humane society! asap most refrigerated meats are only good for 7-14 days after you open them unless they are pre-cooked or smoked Dont eat it! You'll fall sick! On top of that, it'll taste like a garbage!
But that my case, it seems u buy the expensive sausage, must be hard to throw it away... My bossy sis said if u keep it in the right place it'll a be a little late to expirate.Maybe that sausage still alive...
Bon apetie, bro!
