How do I make my canned tomatoes into a Spagetti Sauce?
I canned plenty of tomatoes this year, but all I use them for is chili or spanish rice. Does anyone have a good easy recipe to turn them into a spagetti sauce?
Answers: This is good:
1 Tbs. olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 lbs. canned tomatoes, chopped
1 (12 oz) can tomato paste
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Saute the onion and garlic in the olive oil, add the tomatoes, tomato paste, and broth and mix well, then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Bring to a slow boil for about 5 minutes turn down and let simmer for 2-3 hours Fry some onions with some garlic and add the tomatoes.
Add some fresh herbs and you're done!!!
If you want a mince bolognese, fry the meat with the onions and garlic before adding in the tomatoes.
Season to your own taste and don't be afraid to experiment!!!
I add mustard/Worcester sauce to mine.
=] We have the best recipe in the world...place your canned tomatoes, white wine, Bloody Mary mix, basil, oregano, garlic, (no onions) and a small pork roast in a deep pot. Cook on low heat til roast is tender. Crock pot is good too. Meat is wonderful and sauce is the best. Old Sicilian recipe except for the Bloody Mary mix, tomato juice will suffice. To make them spaghetti sauce,it is all in the seasoning.Crush them and cook them down. Then use spaghetti sauce mix and add whatever you like in your sauce.Bell pepper, mushroom, sausage,or 3 cheeses do well.Just cook it down slowly, maybe in your crockpot.Hope this helps.
