Dijon mustard for steaks
Orange mustard with mustard seeds in it from the spice place at Stratford on Avon - tip:- it is fabulous stirred into mashed potatoes. erm, english or french? hmmm, i wonder... colemans and french Brown mustard, or country style dijon (the kind with mustard seeds in it). Love pretty much all of them, use yellow mustard the most, honey mustard the least. american mustard Colmans English, nothing else will do at all Depends on the purpose.
For spreading on a steak or a hot dog, Colmans' English every time. Gutsy, ballsy and whoa!
For use in preparing a sauce, Edmond Fallot Dijon mustard. Subtle, keen and doesn't dominate the way Colman's does.
If they're really cheap, crappy hot dogs and I want to go downmarket then I would settle for French's American mustard, but like most American products it's sub-standard. My favourite Mustard is German and it is called "L?wensenf"(Lion Mustard)It is very hot and makes your eyes water.

It's great spread on steaks before you grill them. Would you believe that my favourite mustard is the one in the picallili jar? I have to dip a spoon between all the veg, and then spread it on my bread slice. I always end throwing away a jar of dried veg, I wish they sell it on it's own. Grainy Dijon, love it.
