German marble cake recipe (with US measurements)???!

Question:

German marble cake recipe (with US measurements)???

I'm trying to make a marble cake for one of my German friends.

He insists that German marble cake is different from American and he prefers the former rather than the latter.

He says you must use vanilla sugar, some type of flour, and NO icing (instead put nothing on top or just powdered sugar).

Does anyone know a recipe like the one I'm describing???

It would also be great if it used US measurements instead of metric! :)

2 sticks butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 - 3 tsp. baking powder
Milk, just enough to make thick dough (about 1 c.)
1 1/4 c. sugar
3-4 eggs
Lemon skin (grated), to taste
1 c. cornstarch

Cream butter; add sugar, vanilla, eggs and lemon. Beat well. Sift flour, cornstarch and baking powder. Add to eggs slowly with milk, beating well. Make dough thick. Take 1/3 dough and add either cocoa or chocolate, sugar and small amount of milk. Place dough in bottom of pan, first light dough, then chocolate dough and finish with light on top. Take table knife and swirl around. Bake at 350 to 380 degrees for about 1 hour. Don't open oven for at least 1/2 hour. Use a tube pan.
