How can I make vegetable soup, with out using flour.?!

Question:

How can I make vegetable soup, with out using flour.?

I would like to use Oats.

Answers: oats are good, barley is also excellent, just throw what you want all in together, that is the beauty of vegetable soup, you can't really make a mistake. i make delish vege soup without either! I dont use either, although to thicken the soup a little bit i use a pasta called rissoni also known as 'rice pasta'.

They are shaped like rice and have the texture of pasta, really nice to add to minestrone soup or any other soup that you like. ..."flour"...? what are you doing...? cut up the vegetables you want... use cornstarch if you want a "thickener"...some soy, some worchester(sp) sauce....maybe some V8 juice. place all your diced vegetables in a pot with two cups of vegetable stock boil until soft add salt to taste.serve with crusty rolls try lentils or aduki beans If you use a high volume of veg to liquid then all you need do is retain some veg for the crunch effect and liquidise the rest; makes a lovely thick soup without any additions. Flour in veg soup? Do you mean cornflour?
Its not necessary. If you want to bulk it up just use more veg. I've never used flour. Potato thickens soup. If you don't want to liquidise the whole lot. Whiz the stock and potatoes first before adding the veges, that will thicken it. A good way to thicken your soup is to use potato's, prepare some veg with some potatoes first then liquidise them with one of those stab mixers then make your soup again adding the larger pieces of veg Chop up a potato and add that. Shouldn't need any flour.

enjoy You don't need any flour to make vegetable soup.

All you need is vegetables, water, some vegetable stock and seasoning. I have never put flour in my soup.

I shall try the oats though. That's a nice thought actually. Why do you need flour?
If you want the soup thicker just put half of it in a blender and add back to the pot and you will have thicker soup.
You could always add instant potatoes to the soup to thicken it.
