Christmas cookie party this year...?!
Christmas cookie party this year...?
this Christmas i want to have a few of my great friends over to make christmascookies, bunches of them,
gingerbread, sugar, chocolate , and any holiday shape and decoration,
we will have Christmas music playing, hot chocolate and apple cider,(ya know to set the mood)
i still want to do more though,
i have one idea to buy inexpensive trays for everyone to take their cookies home on,
or sell them, like a bake sale, to earn money for some charity, or to buy toys for tots,
or deliever them to people including asisted living homes and those in need(teachers, pastors, family,)
i don't want to do an exchange of recipes because i might make the dough before hand then just cut, decorate, and bake together
what do you think, opinions ideas please tips....thanks
God Bless
Answers: Oh my goodness -- what a wonderful way to have fun, and help other people!
I agree with the other posts, making your dough ahead of time will be a tremendous time saver. And with so many good ideas for sharing, perhaps you could plan two or more parties to accomplish all of your goals. If you only have one oven, yet several cookie sheets ready to bake, it could take hours and hours to make enough cookies for all your recipients.
Maybe have a Cookie Bake Off Marathon, have multiple parties, enlist the help of one or two friends and spread the cooking out to different places, or have a traveling party, where you could have different recipes hosted at different houses. Well, the possibilities are endless.
The bake sale idea is wonderful. And shut-ins would love the company just as much as the cookies. Same for nursing home residents.
Please post back and let us know the success of your plans and goals. Sounds fun and will work great if you have two ovens!!! Having the dough mixed up before hand will be a huge time saver.
Lots of times exchange parties aren't exchanging recipes, but rather everyone brings say 3 dozen cookies they baked and you put them all together and everyone then picks 3 dozen to take home, but you could certainly take them to a nursing home or do a sale, etc.... that way you girls could have time for food and fun and talk instead of working so hard baking cookies. I bake 100's at the holidays and it is time consuming. You could put the cookies in cheap, christmasy plastic containers and take them to nursing homes. I'm sure the elderly would really appreciate that!!! It would really bring a smile to their faces..........have a great time!!! And be sure to send some cookies home with your guests too! sounds like a wonderful idea! You could take some to asisted living homes and have your friends each take a paper plate full home too. Have a litte box for donations, tell them about what it's going to and suggest that everyone makes a donation too! That sounds like a lot of fun. I think it would be great to put them on trays (maybe dollar store) or plates and take them to elderly people in the area. I know they often feel alone and depressed around the holidays so this would be a great pick me up. You could also do mini loves of quick bread (banana, oatmeal, etc.).
