Oatmeal squares or oatmeal cookies?!

Question:

Oatmeal squares or oatmeal cookies?

I have a recipe for oatmeal cookie mix. I place the mix in a fairly deep, rectangular baking pan. When it is done, I cut the oatmeal block into smaller, square shaped pieces.

Is it wrong to call the food I have made oatmeal cookies, or should it only be referred to as oatmeal squares? In this case, is squares a more specific term for a type of cookie?

Be aware that it is entirely possible to make traditionally shaped cookies (round, flat) with the exact same mix.

Answers: Call them whatever you'd like. Delicious would be better! Cookies sound like a treat. Squares make me feel like they are healthier...lol Enjoy them and then call them gone. Have fun! Source(s):
I like oatmeal cookies and oatmeal squares I think if your making it in a square pan and cutting it into squares then calling them oatmeal squares is proper and if you made them as cookies shapes then call them cookies. Really there are lots of cookies that are made into squares and called squares so I think your correct calling them squares. I think that you can call them anything you want. You made them :) cookies I guess they are cookies I would call them cookies, but Kimberly is also right, you made them so I guess you can call anything you want. :)
